Dubai – Qatar Telecommunications (QAT) has announced the launch of a satellite network in Qatar to support the development of a new satellite communications network.
The QAT Qatari Satellite Network is designed to improve the security and reliability of satellite communication in Qatar.QAT QAT said that the network will be built on a jointly owned joint venture between QAT, a telecommunications company based in Qatar, and Qatar Telecom, the national telecommunications company, which is owned by Qatar’s government.
The network will also support QAT’s global broadband network and other services, it said.
Qatar has been one of the most prominent supporters of Qatar’s efforts to become a satellite telecommunications operator.
It has been working with several satellite operators in the past to build and launch satellites for the Qatari government, including in 2013.
