VAN NUYS, New Mexico — A man allegedly burglarized his way into his neighbor’s home while the two were asleep in a bed, and then stole his car and fled the scene, according to police.
The alleged incident occurred about 9:40 a.m.
Sunday at a home in the 7300 block of West Main Street in Van Nuys, New York.
Police say the victim woke up when he heard a noise outside and realized he was being burglaried.
He told the suspect he would be asleep in bed.
The suspect entered the home and took a large collection of items including a laptop, a small computer, a camera, some electronics, and a cell phone, police said.
He left with the items, police added.
The homeowner was able to break into the suspect’s vehicle and found a number of items and some of the stolen property, police later said.
The suspect is still at large.
