Vodafon is in the news again with a 5G announcement.
The company has also announced it will be laying off around 150 employees.
The move comes on top of a slew of layoffs that Vodacom has announced in recent months.
The company’s new 5G rollout will be a mix of its older 5G modems and new 5GHz modems.
The 5G devices will support speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps).
It is the first time the company has released an official statement on its 5G strategy.
Vodacomm says it will roll out 5G in Germany by 2020.
It is expected to be rolled out across Germany and Austria.
It will be the first country to get 5G services in the Netherlands, and it will arrive in Spain later this year.
The move comes after Vodacon announced it was laying off up to 150 employees last month.
The German company had previously laid off around 1,200 people in March this year, which the company said was the largest layoffs of any of its European business.
